Server Rules

The land does not care which banner you choose. It only asks that you work it — and that you respect those who work it alongside you.

🔓 Soft Open

From Saturday 7 November Tir Anferth is in a soft open: invite-only, with no player cap, so anyone who is brought in or finds the way is welcome. These rules apply from the first day.

⚖ Respect the Community

Treat fellow players with courtesy. Harassment, hate speech, and personal attacks have no place in Tir Anferth. Disputes between kingdoms are in-character; disputes between players are not.

🚫 No Cheating or Exploiting

Cheats, duplication, speed or memory hacks, packet tools and anything that breaks the rules of the game itself are prohibited. If you find a bug, report it and do not profit from it.

👁 Automation: Allowed While You Are There (The Law of Honest Hands)

Macros, bots and helper tools are welcome on Tir Anferth while you are at the keyboard. What is not allowed is leaving a character working unattended: a body that works while the soul is away.

The Vigil. From time to time the Watchman may ask you one quick question. It is never the same twice, so no script can answer it for you. You have five minutes. Answer it and carry on; a correct answer even strikes one mark off your list. If a Vigil goes unanswered it is a strike. The first is only a warning. After that your skills come slower with each strike and the Watchman calls more often. At the seventh strike you are set in the Stocks of Albion for ten minutes and asked once more; answer, and you are sent back to where you stood, Hollow for an hour while your skills come slowly. Come to the Stocks again and again and you are named Outlaw, with slow skills for a day, and the Stewards look at the case. Type /vigil in game to see where you stand.

Appeals. If you believe a Vigil was unfair, say so through the community channels and a Steward will look at it.

⚙ Registered Automata

If you want a helper to keep working while you are away, register it openly with the Herald. Registered Automata wear a title, work in the Workyard at the edge of Albion, gain skill more slowly, and are not asked the Vigil there. Outside the Workyard an unattended character is Hollow like any other. The Workyard takes commissions for the commons, so honest machines are welcome and useful.

❓ Automation: Quick Answers

Will I be punished for fishing, chopping or mining for hours? No. Only an unanswered Vigil counts, never how long you play.

Can I use a macro or helper tool? Yes, while you are present.

What if I step away for a minute, or my connection drops? A missed Vigil is a first strike, which is only a warning. Answer the next one and a mark is struck off. If you think a Vigil was unfair, ask a Steward.

Where can I read the lore behind this? The Law of Honest Hands is on the Law page, and the Herald will tell it better than we can.

💰 Trading and the Market

A trade is a promise: keep your word, meet where you said you would, and hand over what you listed. To use the Market you link your character to your Discord account (/market link in game, then /link and the code to the Mehmed II bot). Selling is not open yet. Scams, bait listings and soliciting real-money trades are not permitted.

🕯 Alms

Alms are gifts, freely given and never refunded. The Alms Box takes coin from your bank only, and every giver and every deed has a daily limit.

🏰 Deeding and Settlement

Settlement rules and deed costs are detailed on the Server Info page. Respect existing deeds — do not build, mine, or cut timber within another player's deed perimeter without permission.

⚔ PvP and Combat

Albion and the starter towns are safe zones: no PvP there. The Waystation sites along the roads are safe too. The kingdom lands are PvP. Check with each kingdom's Steward for local conventions.

🌲 Resource Stewardship

The land is harsh and its resources are earned. Wessex keeps a long memory for anyone who takes more timber than they plant back. Apply the same wisdom to all resources — mine responsibly, replant what you fell, and leave the land workable for those who come after.

🤝 Alt Accounts

You may run more than one client on a Steam account. Alts must not be used to inflate the economy or gain a competitive edge. When in doubt, ask a Steward.

📢 Communication

Keep in-game chat and Discord respectful and on-topic. Game chat is relayed to Discord, so what you say in one is read in the other. Spam, advertising other servers, and soliciting real-money trades are not permitted.

🔨 Staff and Stewards

Stewards and staff are volunteers who keep the server running and the peace held. Their decisions on rule enforcement are final. If you believe a decision was wrong, appeal through the community channels — never in-game or in public argument.

These rules are a living document. As the community grows, the rules may evolve. The spirit behind them is simple: be the kind of neighbour you'd want to have, and the land will provide for you.
